Im writing this post in reponse to the post here which says that Non-metro airports are facing a crisis even after FACELIFT and also mentions Nagpur as one of them.

Im just wondering since I have read this, that whether Nagpur Airport actually got any facelift in terms of capacity to handle baggages, public, visitors, travellors, cars etc ?

If you say yes, please think of it again, there is only one x-ray machine to check your baggage, at least it was the solo piece when I was travelling there in last week of May and first week of June.
Is there any proper prepaid auto/taxi/car system to take you home with normal rates being charged to you instead of the whopping double or even triple rates being charged?

Think again?

After getting barakat of Ziyarat from two places, Mumbai and Burhanpur, we planned to return to Nagpur back home on Friday. We had to leave earlier, so that we can catch Geetanjali Express at Bhusawal station, and there was no train at the exact time, so we had to be hours earlier, and if the train ran late from Burhanpur to Bhusawal, we lost the tickets to Nagpur.

We reached Burhanpur station at around 9am, to catch the first available train to Bhusawal, the trains were running late as was expected, the train running at 10.30 arrived at 10.55 and we somehow reached Bhusawal station.

At the station, we were shocked to note that Geetanjali was running hours late, the train scheduled to reach Bhusawal at 12.05pm came at 6.30 and reached Nagpur at half past midnight, while it was to reach Nagpur at 7.30pm the same day. So we were hours and hours late.

We went straight to my sister’s house, ate a little in the night and slept. In the morning we saw the house, which was ransacked.

Im beginning to write about my travel and other experiences during my leave from work.

I was waiting for long since about two months for the day i.e.  May 30, ’08 to arrive so that I can go back and meet my family and friends in Nagpur.

I had pre-planned that while I will be there I will be going to other places too.

I left UAE from Sharjah Airport to Nagpur on May 30, ’08 at 11.45 pm local time. I had reached airport well in advance, as I had to meet my elder brother there. One of my friend from Dubai had accompanied me to the airport, he reached his home back in Dubai by around midnight or so. I reached Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport at Nagpur in the early monring on May 31, ’08 at 3.40 am local time. But, when I reached home it was around 6am. Two of my best friends were to come to pick me up at Airport, but could not make it possible 😦

I had read sometime back, and even blogged that Nagpur Airport has been renovated and is working with better facilities, I would humbly request the authorities to have a look at the luggage trollies, which have to be pushed/pulled. Also, they need more x-ray machine for baggage screening, atleast two more so that less time is utilized in the same.

This was the beginning of the traveller’s foot, 2640kms from Sharjah to Nagpur, skipping the extra miles that were utilized while in Taxi/Auto.

Also, here, im confused as to why people prefer travelling by Air Arabia over Air India Express, just to save a little amount, which is then utilized in paying Taxi bill from Dubai to Sharjah Airport? And the time consumed? The night which atleast I could not sleep being in travel and being waken at odd times. I would always prefer Air India Express over Air Arabia, to save a little time — which is most important — and also to travel in Day rather than Night.
